America Then and Now

I used to wish I were young again, and just starting out..I used to wish I had my youth back, and change the course of my life....but now!! with all the youth have to put up with, this country is no longer as I knew it, as I was born into it, way back then.

I used to wish I could have changed the path I followed. I used to wish, that I could be 19 again, and change my life's direction. ...but now, I am happy that I am the age I am, and enjoyed the freedom of a real America, who believed in truths, honesty, and a real Democracy, not as we know it now.

Now the kids will think, America? Democracy? are you sure? I don't remember having the choices that come with the Constitution, As a matter of fact the Constitution has been changed, so has the Bill of rights, because we have a Leader who insists on privacy, not sharing, not telling truths for fear the public would not approve.

The only thing I feared...when I was young...was the gangsters in the corner deli's planning hits on each other. Now I fear the terrorists, coming to the USA, and a war to end all wars, as predicted years ago...for How can we win a war..when we do not even know...who the enemy is, where he is, and where he will hit next.

But this is still, the Best of all the Countries in the World....and I still am proud to be an American....I still am thankful that we vote for our leaders, but next time, you who voted for 'you know who'...make sure your glasses are washed, clean and that you can read the ballot..and vote for the DEMOCRATS!!

One of my housemates and I were discussing 9/11, and how so many people begin to believe that it was a setup.

There was an interesting forum post on it on pointlesswasteoftime.com. One of the users there, who is from Eastern Europe, finds it so amusing that almost a third of our country is out to believe that the government is trying to kill us. The way that he [my roommate] and I see it, 9/11 was nothing more than a well-planned, terroristic attack—not a plan to extend President Bush's office for an additional 4 years, or whatever other "hypotheses" that exist.

Although it's interestingly coincidental how 9/11 occurred just as I began to come of age. Under the blanket of child's naivety, I disregarded the numerous adages of "politics equals corruption". Now I'm never too certain of our government's status or intention, as none of us really anticipated something like that to happen.

Ha ha! Yes! Go democrats!

While I'm currently under the voting age, I still am hoping for a democratic win next year. I would like to see Obama in office, but Hillary is also an extremely competent and able woman, who I wouldn't be unhappy to have as president.

By the way, any hypothesis stating that 9/11 was a way to keep Bush in office is crazy. I agree with Rob on that: it was a well-planned terrorist attack.
