Sometimes, when we work hard to accomplish a goal, we do not see that another is right behind, pushing us out, while they gain control and rise to the top. Some have to step on others, some have to work harder, but then there are those who just use people as steps, doing anything and everything to get to the top.
They deceive, they use a ploy, they make believe they know, when they really do not. They are like little bugs, getting into everything, and are everywhere, and with each step they take, another person is pushed out of the way.
They do not know the way to work with others, nor do they know the wiki way. You can find them at every wiki no matter the name of the wiki. I guess the set up of every wiki seems to bring out the worse or best of us, no matter how large or small the wiki. A wiki is a wiki afterall.
A wiki is a particular type of site. While everyone and anyone can write or edit, those who'se edits are not deemed correct by any one editor, will be rewritten and replaced with their own views and thoughts. And, that article now becomes theirs. But what about the person who originally spent hours writing it?.. Planning it?? ...and adding pictures to it?....They are just a name only on that article, along with the new author's name.
Well then, lets say, that yet another person comes along. The 'pusher', the bug that wants to climb to the top. They look at the article, and says, hmm, I could fix that one. And does! Once again they edit and re-edit, moves a picture or two around, or removes one and adds one of their own choice, which might or not might have anything to do with that article.
Well, I guess you have the idea now....wiki's are like that. Anyone can write, Anyone can edit, Anyone can change an article. It is a collaboration....
BUT!!! here's is the catch....All those edits can easily be reverted!! back to any one of the edits that any other person chooses.
However, from looking at it at another angle, each person also adds to that article. They add maybe a word, or a thought, or a paragraph, or two. They each build on that one article, like building blocks...one changes or adds to the other. Until, that one article has become so great, so interesting, so edit free, that it becomes a Featured Article, with not just one author's name on it, but many authors names.
It is really an amazing concept!!!
So then...is a wiki really open to all? as it is supposed to be??....Or does just one person, the last person who reverts, become the deciding person, as to what article shows, stays or goes.
Figure it out....
